Thank you. First of all, let...Saudara Gengis Khan,

Thank you. First of all, let me qualify myself that I'm not a fighter pilot and this is just my personal view.

The battle-proven sabre was good during its era, eg, Korean War. So was its worthy opponent, MiG 21. As for the F5E, I've never heard it being nicknamed 'flying coffin'. To me, the aircraft is still relevant as proven by the many air forces in the world that still have F5E in their ORBAT. However, it could be at a disadvantage when faced with the modern fighter aircraft with the latest weaponry and increase in weapon load.

As for those crashes, I wonder how many were due to 'technical errors'!

Comments from fighter jockeys are most welcome.Mej. I am told that the F-5 E fighter was ...Sudara Nor,
I am told that the F-5 E fighter was nicknamed the flying coffin for the flight crashed in an average year. I remember we lost a number of good pilots due to this fighters unreliability. On the contrariety the sabers although WW 2 vintage were very reliable and forgiving fighters. I remember on a trip to Singapore in the late seventies some of my fighter pilot friends swore on the reliability of the sabers. In the sixties Pakistan and south Korea used them very effectively to defend their air space. Your views please. But I'm sure the 'old but faithful' Nuri hitched a ride on a long voyage to Port Klang. I remember FM1716 was assembled & air tested at Port Klang before it was flown to its new nest in RMAF Kuantan some time in Nov or Dec 1974.Mej.
