3. Lt Thiagarajah, Lt Affendi and Lt Darby were selected to go direct for Alouette captaincy.

During Nuri co-pilot conversion course, we were accommodated at 4 Bde Officers Mess, Kuantan. After the wing presentation at the Base by the then Chief of Air Force, AVM Sulaiman Sujak at RMAF Kuantan in 1974...

Unofficially PUTD was established in 1973 :D Uwaaaa didn't realized Maj Darby Awin was from the Army. I last saw iin RMAF base KL.

Gambar itu betul-betul nostalgic, tambahan pulak setelah bersara ini dapat bertemu muka semula dengan skuad-skuad atau rakan seperjuangan semasa berkhidmat dulu. Masa tu betul-betul membuatkan keadaaan hiruk-pikuk dengan cerita-ceriti yang dilalui semasa service dulu.
Saya akui perkara ini memang menyeronokkan, seperti mana ketika ahli kelab saya dapat berkumpul didalam sesuatu majlis seperti Mesyuarat Agong Kelab, majlis kenduri-kendara, hari jadi Kor dsbnya.

Seronok pula melihat gambar2 yang dipamerkan, tak tahu pula pilot helikopter yang asalnya dari army masih memakai uniform tentera darat walaupun berkhidmat dalam RMAF. Kalau begitu, bagaimana pula dengan panggilan pangkat? Belum ada pelarasan panggilan pangkat ketika masa itukah, tuan? Satu lagi, Lt. Gen Mohd Ngah adalah pilot untuk pesawat apa, tuan? Saya pernah membaca satu artikel, beliau pernah menjadi CO untuk Pengkalan RMAF Kuching pada masa dahulu. Ketika itu, beliau berpangkat Squadron Leader.(Major)

Betul tu. Kalau jumpa tu memang tergelak sakan mengenang cerita lama. En Yob beritahu saya apabila beliau melihat gambar En Mohsain dalam blog ini, beliau telah menalipon En Mohsain dan menyanyi lagu 'Cincin Dibelah Rotan'. Mengikut cerita, ini lagu kesukaan En Mohsain masa bujang-bujang dulu.

Terima kasih. Kami akhirnya bertukar uniform ke TUDM. Pada awal '70an, pangkat TUDM masih Pilot Officer, Flying Officer, Flt Lt, Sqn Ldr dan seterusnya. Sqn Ldr Mohd Ngah adalah Ketua No 7 Skn (Nuri), TUDM Kuching, di satu ketika dulu. Beliau adalah pilot untuk pesawat fixed wing & helikopter.

I used to stop at that RAAF base at Butterworth in the late '60s, early '70s and apart from listening to that Kookaburra bird of 'Radio Butterworth'....look at those Mirage jets taking off or landing. I think was Mirage.

Thanks for stopping by. Yes, the RAAF used Mirage jets those days. You know, I had problems when I first flew to Butterworth Base. I could not understand what the 'Mat Saleh' from the control tower was saying. Their Aussie slang was completely Greek to me. All I could make out was just 'Chopper East', meaning to report on reaching east of the runway. Nasib baik tak sesat...he..he..he.
