'Dear All Veterans PDRM/ATM,
PGB Ex Insp. Wilfred Gomez of Sarawah passed away this morning at 07ooHrs. Condolenances to his family.
The recipients of our war heroes are getting shorter by the day.He passed away exactly one month after the late Datuk Kanang a/l Langkau. Just spoke to him last week the night before he goes in for the major surgery.
May his soul rest in peace. Good-bye bro Wilfred.'
Perginya seorang wira negara - xInspector Wilfred Gomez
Datuk Paul Kiong....You're most welcome to share your stories. Thank you

Selamat Petang Tuan,

Saudara Luke,
Terima kasih. Adakah kisah mendiang dibukukan? Jika ada, apa tajuk & siapa penerbitnya? Boleh cari di kedai buku atau perpustakaan. Pasti interesting.
Perginya seorang lagi perwira.. RIP mendiang ASP (B) Wilfred Gomez
Datuk Wira Abu Seman, Timb Menteri Dalam Negeri, & KPN turut menghadiri majlis pengkebumian mendiang di Tanah Perkuburan Kristian, Kota Samarahan, Sarawak (UM, 6/2/13 ms9 - "Keberanian Wilfred Gomez perlu dicontohi").
With the passing away of xInspector Wilfred Gomez we specially the security forces fraternity moan the loss of yet another of our heroes from the ever dwindling pool of holders of the SP & PGB. However it is painfully when I learnt the Sarawak state government dismissed this Iban hero’s last wish to be buried at the Heroes Grave in Jalan Budaya. There was also no representative of the state government and neither a Dayak minister were present at his funeral.
What ever partisan political practiced by Gomez in is life time he remains a Malaysian hero and ought to have been treated as such.
I remember reading some years ago that even Paul Kiong was never given the respect he deserved as a holder of the SP and another medal for gallantry by the Perak state government .
When he applied for a few acres of land for farming from his home state of Perak he was given the run around by the land office telling him that his file could not be found. In frustration Paul wrote of his plight in the news papers. If this could happen to now Datuk Paul who ranks amongst the bravest what are the chances of the ordinary soldier! .
There has been too many stories of our Heros being neglected in the past by the authorities and it is time to give them their dues before its too late. To carry such neglect even as we lower their bodies in their graves is most unjust and unacceptable. Bravo to Datuk Paul for your service to the country and RIP xInspector Wilfred Gomez.
Selamat Pagi Tuan,

Tuan Mej(B) Nor Ibrahim,
I hope to meet up with you and others on coming ' Hari Pahlawan ' 31 Jul 2013. That is, IF WE ARE INVITED by the Govt. There are so much to share esp on " Bamboo Express " as I was OC Operation Bamboo from 1986-1989 and was involved in numerous covert operations from 1980-1986. I could have taken a ride in one of your 'burung besi' during my ops. Ex-Kapt. Halim (now in Air Sabah)were with us during those golden years. SLO Charlie Chan who liaise with your TUDM in Grik had passed on mid last year. Just for your info only.
Saudara Luke,
Saya turut bertanyakan tentang kisah Datuk Paul. Memang 'terer' katanya.
Dear Datuk,
Thank you. My involvement with 'Bamboo Xpress' was from 1974 to 1980. I used to night stop at Ulu Kinta camp. The PFF brigade commander then was SAC Tan Sri P. Alagendra. Lasah was the pick-up point. The liaison officer then was an ASP, forgot his name.
I remember doing 'SB changeover' from Grik. SLO was the late Charlie Chan. He took the aircrew to one Malay restaurant where I had the best exotic dish, ie, 'perut panjang'. Till today, I'll never forget it.
