My dad always told me war stories for my bedtime when i was a little boy. My favourite is always about Malaysian Armed Forces and one of it is 'The Battle Of Gubir'. He will start with "..Once, there's a battle in the deep jungle of Perak..It took few days but it seem like never end.." Dad will use his hand to show me how the Nuri's pilot drop the soldiers in the jungle and evacuate the wounded ones out from the jungle. He will end with ".. We lost one Nuri, got shot and crashed..".Since then, i've being searching for the facts, visuals and the details of the story. It wasnt that easy. It was like an untold story. Sadly, no local film maker ever want to depict that grand event as a movie.
But recently, i found a blog , http://xnuripilot.blogspot.com by Maj (R) Nor Ibrahim Bin Sulaiman who actually was the combat pilot who flown the Nuri during the battle. The blog is almost like a complete journal of a war veteran that tells every single details, the photos and the facts about 'The Battle of Gubir' which later i knew it as 'Ops Kota Gubir' that happened in April 1976.
This video reminiscing the event by showing the Nuri Pilot doing the Casevac (Casualties Evacuation) in combat zone.
As a military enthusiast , i just want to tribute this video to all Malaysian War Veterans, to the old Nuri and also to my dad,Capt (R) Maidin Sulaiman and off course, to the Malaysian Armed Forces in totally,..One of the world's best and the Asia's Finest.
I'm happy to note that my minute contribution towards enlightening this sad episode has, to a certain extent, been successful. Of course, the greatest achievement was when I succeeded in documenting it in my book, Coretan Xnuripilot, and officially in the National Archive. And I was pleasantly surprised when I accidentally came across this video ...
